Low Fat St. Pat’s
Reserve your space now for Low Fat St. Pat’s, the SHAPE Healthy Cooking Class featuring a traditional Irish meal.
The class will be held at Willamette on Tuesday, March 11 at 5:00. Note: This class is already full. A second class will be offered Wednesday, March 12. Make your reservation now.
The menu is:
- Guinness-Infused Beef Stout Stew
- Potato and Cauliflower Mash
- Braised Greens
- Irish Soda Bread
- Bread Pudding with Irish Cream Sauce
This class is free, taught by experienced nutritionists and cooks, and is open to all Bethel staff members. Email Jenny Kolpak right away to secure your spot.
Willamette staff: We’re not giving up! SHAPE is still seeking to record the BMI (body mass Index) of 60% of all WHS employees (We’re at 20% right now.) Check with Pat Loose in the Health Room today.
Meadow View staff: SHAPE will be back for another opportunity to record your BMI.
SHAPE needs to reach the 60% participation rate in order to continue the grant funding that has provided all the current SHAPE opportunities.
Kickboxing Punches Through
Kickboxing has finally begun at Cascade with a good mix of staff members from throughout the district already taking part. The time for this class has been moved back a bit to 4:30 to accommodate more Bethel staff members’ schedules.
If you’re looking for a fun, spirited cardiovascular workout that can be adjusted to your fitness level, this class could be for you.
Weight Watchers Renewal
It is time to sign up for the next 13 weeks of Weight Watchers. This is free for Bethel Classified employees with ODS insurance ($153 value) and the SHAPE grant will reimburse $100 for employees for whom Weight Watchers is not covered by insurance (upon completion of 13 week program.)
The cost includes Weight Watchers classes and support each week as well as the free use of Weight Watchers etools (online help).
Sign up now by calling Weight Watchers at 541-342-5386. ODS folks should have their insurance ID number when they call.
Always attempting to meet your needs, SHAPE is making some changes. Two new classes are in, one is out, and more Healthy Cooking Classes are planned. Check the schedule.
Low Fat St. Pat’s
Dozens of staff members loved this week’s Valentine’s themed Cooking With Love Healthy Cooking Class.
Watch for next week’s SHAPE blog and the menu and sign-up for next month’s Low Fat St. Pat’s Irish-themed Healthy Cooking Class. It will again be a first-come first-served (literally) class.
Kickboxing and Tabata
Two new fitness classes start next week. No one will get punched but Kickboxing at Cascade will offer a spirited cardiovascular workout. The routines will have you feeling immediately stronger as the calories burn away.
Tabata is a Circuit-style class at Fairfield that will keep you busy. Over a four minute period you will exercise 20 seconds on and 10 seconds off for four minutes before rotating to the next station.
See you at next week’s classes.
