Wow, what a phenomenal start to first grade in Room 3! We are well on our way to an exciting and productive year. We are hard at work establishing and practicing our classroom and school routines and procedures, building strong and positive relationships with our peers, and having a lot of fun through it all. We just wrapped up our Five Senses unit where students investigated how each of their senses affects their world. We especially had a lot of fun with our Sense of Smell day, where we tried to identify mystery smells 🙂 This next week we begin an Exploring Apples unit: we’ll read about apples, learn about the life cycle of apples, learn about Johnny Appleseed, make apple window art, and finish the unit with the best part – apple tasting!
Fall is an especially busy time of year and we have many exciting things coming up soon: the Jog-A-Thon, Danebo’s Open House, picture day, and our first field trip (October 28th!) just to name a few. Field trip information will be coming home in Tuesday Folders soon. If you’re interested in chaperoning the field trip (or helping out in the classroom) let me know. Thank you!
