October Newsletter and a Birthday FAQ

Happy autumn everyone! Just a few quick updates for this week…

The monthly newsletter for our classroom will be coming home in your child’s folder this week. It has some information about what we’re learning in the month of October and info about various other classroom happenings. Feel free to call, email, or send a note if you have a question about any of the newsletter items.

One FAQ that I didn’t mention was regarding birthday celebrations during class time. If your child has a birthday during the school year and you would like to send in a treat:

Cookies are the best classroom-ready treat to send. They are small, don’t have frosting, and don’t require any kind of utensils or serving dishes. They must be store bought and pre-packaged to comply with our District food serving guidelines. We DO have children with severe food allergies, so please let me know ahead of time if you will be sending a birthday treat so that I can be sure to have an alternate treat ready for those students.

Please DO NOT send balloons, toys, goody bags, etc. Those items are best left at home.

I have small “Happy Birthday” sticker badges for children who are celebrating their birthdays at school. The birthday child can wear the badge all day and many other students and staff notice and will wish that child a happy birthday.

Best,

Ms. McFarland
