Bethel Health Center

The Bethel Health Center is the new home for health care for all Bethel students, their minor siblings, the children of Bethel students, and Bethel Head Start students.

Located in Cascade Middle School at 1525 Echo Hollow Road, the Bethel Health Center is accepting appointments and drop-in visits.

What is the Bethel Health Center?
The Bethel Health Center is a small medical clinic located in a school setting, Cascade Middle School, with its own outside main entrance on the north side of the school. Physical and preventive health services are provided to youth and adolescents, regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance status. The Health Center is a type of health care safety net and usually sees children who otherwise would not be able to access medical care. There are similar student health centers in dozens of Oregon schools, all of which are certified by the Oregon Department of Human Services, Public Health Division.

Who operates the Bethel Health Center?
It is staffed by a Nurse Practitioner and office assistant. Oversight will be provided by a Medical Director and a Health Center Advisory Board made up of representatives of the Bethel community, the local medical profession, the Bethel School Board, school nurses, educators, and students.

Who is eligible to receive medical services at the Bethel Health Center?
The Bethel Health Center provides services to current Bethel School District students, their minor siblings, and Bethel Head Start students.

What medical services are offered?

• Diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries
• Complete physical exams, including sports physicals
• Vision, dental and blood pressure screenings
• Immunizations
• Health education and wellness promotion
• Prescription medications
• Pregnancy testing

What about birth control?
Bethel Health Center does not provide or distribute contraceptives, contraceptive prescriptions or medications. Students who request help with family planning issues or abortion counseling will be referred to an array of community resources.

How is the Bethel Health Center funded?
The Student Health Center relies on revenue from private foundation grants, federal and state funds, Medicaid reimbursement, and third-party insurance. Donations from patients and other supporters are welcomed and very appreciated. No Bethel School District funds will be used in the operation of the Bethel Student Health Center.

How much will a visit to the Bethel Student Health Center cost?
No one will be denied services due to inability to pay. The Student Health Center will bill Oregon Health Plan & private insurance. Those without health insurance will be encouraged to pay a $15 donation. Call the Student Health Center at (541) 607-1430 for additional fee structures.

Are children able to access medical services without parents’ permission?
Under Oregon’s Minor Consent law any person 15 and older may sign for themselves to receive services at a School Based Health Center. However, the Bethel School Board requires that students ages 15-17 have Permission to Access signed by a parent/guardian.
