FAFSA stands for Free Application For Federal Student Aid, and is the first step in applying for financial aid.  YOU MUST FILE A FAFSA TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR MOST SCHOOL-BASED, ALL FEDERALLY-BACKED SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS, AND FOR ANY FEDERALLY-BACKED STUDENT LOANS.

Even if you’re not sure about your post-high school plans, you’ll absolutely want to file a FAFSA application in January, to be sure you keep all your options open for the future.

Fill out the FAFSA application as soon after January 1st as possible (Ms. Wiant suggests doing it on January 2nd!), because oftentimes financial aid awards are made on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The process has been simplified, and can be filed completely online.  If you want help, come on into the C&C Center, and Ms. Wiant will be happy to answer your questions and assist you and/or your family in filling out the forms.
