Oregon Promise Award Notifications

Oregon Promise has begun sending out award notifications today. Students can sign into the OSAC student portal to check on their status. Select “Messages” to see a copy of any e-mails sent to you by OSAC. (You should also check your spam folder if you do not see it in your e-mail)

College and Career Expo, May 15th

Our College and Career Expo, or Career and College Knowledge Night, is just a little over a month away. Join us on May 15th from 6 pm to 8 pm. We will start the evening with a pizza dinner and transition to a traditional Career and College Fair with additional presentations. This is open to all area high school students and their families.

Willamette Valley College Night at SEHS, April 9th

Attention Freshman, Sophomore & Junior Students & Parents: The 2019 Willamette Valley College Information Night will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 7:00 P.M. at South Eugene High School. Western Union Scholarship $2,500

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program, also referred to as WU Scholars, is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education.

Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Criteria:

  • Applicants should demonstrate the qualities of Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community-Mindedness
  • Scholarships must be used at an accredited post-secondary institution seeking an undergraduate degree.
  • All applicants must be pursuing a degree/field of study in one of the following categories: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business/entrepreneurship.
  • All applicants for scholarships must be between the ages of 18 – 26 years of age on June 1, 2019.

Juniors: Preparing for the SAT Test

 One of the best ways to prepare for the SAT test is to take a practice test. College board has made full length practice tests available here.

If you take the online practice test, you will be given personalized practice recommendations on the items you missed.

You can also register for the May 4th or June 1st test here. (They have extended the May 4th registration deadline to April 8th)

State of Emergency Conference

If you are African American, have family that is African American, or consider yourself a friend of an African American, please consider attending this community conference on April 27th at LCC to raise awareness for House Bill 2016. The goal of this bill is to provide an educational plan for African-Americans who are not covered by any existing statewide education plans and have experienced disproportionate educational results.
 
Lunch and childcare is provided. PDUs will be given to any teachers in attendance. (There may even be special prizes for students that attend)
