What: $500 Hernandez Medical/Engineering Scholarship
Open To: former students of Cascade or Shasta Middle Schools who are interested in pursuing a career in the fields of medicine or engineering. It is open to students who have a demonstrated need for financial assistance. This scholarship may be used at any accredited U.S. university, community college, or trade school.

Hernandez Medical/Engineering Scholarship Information
This scholarship is awarded to students choosing a college program in the medical or engineering fields. It is in honor of Greg Hernandez, who battled ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), which affected his ability to continue working in the engineering field as a mechanical designer. It is also in recognition of our son, Jesse, who passed away from an undiagnosed brain tumor. Both diseases are capable of robbing someone of fine and large motor skills, rendering them dependent on others. This scholarship celebrates: the profession that Greg loved; the recognition of the opportunity to help others in the global community through medical or engineering needs; and the value and importance of a college education and community service.

What: $1,000 for two Future Teachers and $1,000 for a BIPOC Future Teacher
Open To: seniors from any Bethel or 4J High School: North Eugene, South Eugene, Churchill, Sheldon, Alternative HS (Kalapuya/ECCO) and Willamette
Criteria: interested in teaching as a career; evidence of academic achievement, involvement in school and community, references, essay.

Open To: seniors and anyone who wants to attend college next year
Criteria: Various, depending on each scholarship guidelines and committees. All require four 150-word essays and list of recent activities. (The same questions and activity information will work for the LCC Foundation Scholarship applications, as well!) What: $1,500
Open To: seniors who are well-rounded students and who plan to pursue a career in healthcare, health-related research, public or community health.
Criteria:academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership activities, dedication to community service, outstanding letters of recommendation, and the need for financial support to pursue educational goals. Applicants with a grade point average under 3.0 or without significant financial need are unlikely to be selected. Students must reside in Lane County and be accepted to an accredited college or technical school program in the United States.
Deadline: March 7th, 2021 before 5 pm
