General Information & Guidelines
Occasionally, we will celebrate special events, holidays, birthdays and achievements in our classroom. During these celebrations, food may be served. In the interest of health and safety, only store bought items may be provided and healthy choices will be encouraged. Generally, celebrations are scheduled for the last 15 minutes of the day in order to minimize disruption to the learning environment.
Pencils or other goody bag items are a great alternative to celebrating with food; however, parents often ask to bring a special snack to share. Parents are welcome to provide snacks for birthdays, if they choose. Please note that, unfortunately, home-baked goods are not allowed. Due to life-threatening food allergies, please be sensitive to the ingredients found in snacks – such as nuts. The classroom teacher can provide information on individual room requirements. We also ask that you provide at least one day’s notice before bringing snacks so that we can accommodate it in our daily schedule.
Please note: We discourage students from handing out party invitations at school, as the feelings of children not invited are often hurt. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
