McKenzie Room 212

Dear Families,

This year for math, your student may have any of the 5th grade teachers as their math teacher. We will mixing up the 5th graders to best meet their needs.

  • If your student goes to Mr. Peterson for math, they will still go to his class.
  • If you have a 4th grader in Mr. McKenzie’s class, they will be placed in 4th or 5th grade class based on their needs.

We hope to start this the week of September 10th. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mrs. Haley, Mr. McKenzie & Ms. Hsieh

The students of Room 212 earned an electronic/toy party in the classroom! The party will be taking place the afternoon of, Friday, September 7th.  Students are allowed to bring appropriate hand-held electronic devices and/or toys to school to use during the party time only.  Items should be stored in backpacks or bags until the party begins and be put away afterward.  Playing with items outside of the party time could result in losing the privilege of using them.  Please encourage students to only bring items they know they can keep track of.  Malabon Elementary can not be responsible for lost or damaged items.

Hello Malabon Families,

This is the Rm. 212 Class Blog. On it you’ll receive information of important dates and classroom news! I will also be sending out emails to families that should contain the same information placed here. If you lose an email or aren’t receiving them, please let me know so I can fix it, and feel free to come here to double check anything you may have missed! I’m looking forward to a great school year!

Also, if you need to contact me about anything, email is the easiest way to reach me, and I check it often. My email address is:

Hello 5th Grade Families,
Students were given Missing/Late Test/Assignment forms Monday to bring home and get signed. Please review these forms with your student. Any missing work on these forms needs to be completed and turned in for a grade.
If your student attends Ms. Lukasik’s or Mr. Peterson’s classes throughout the day, this form doesn’t include their assignments.

Dear 5th Grade Families,

Today your students will be bringing home their winter report cards. If you have any questions or would like to talk about your student’s 5th grade progress, please email me and we can set up a time when we return from Spring Break.

Hello 5th Grade Families,

Due to large class sizes and limited boat space, the chaperone lists for the Newport Oceanography Field Trip are almost full. Ms. Haley has limited spots available, and Mr. McKenzie is now creating a waiting list in case spots open up.

The boat fee is $24.00 per chaperone. In order to confirm chaperone availability, we are accepting the boat fee to secure a spot on this field trip. Please contact your student’s teacher to make any arrangements necessary.

The field trip is on Thursday, May 31st. Busses will leave Malabon at 6:45 A.M. and will be returning at approximately 3:45 P.M. Cafeteria doors will be open for students and parents at 6:30 A.M.

Hello 5th Grade Parents,

There are lots of events happening this spring for our 5th graders! If you want to chaperone on the Bicycle Safety or Newport trips, please make sure to talk to your student’s teacher as soon as possible, and fill out the background check form on the Bethel website. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s teacher.

Hello 5th Grade Families,

Students were given Missing/Late Test/Assignment forms yesterday to bring home and get signed. Please review these forms with your student. Any missing work on these forms needs to be completed and turned in for a grade.

Also, we have a college student, Mr. Cormier, working in our classroom two days a week. He is very excited to be here and he will be with our 5th grade until the end of March. If you see him in the halls, please feel free to say hi!

Hello 5th Grade Families,

Parent/Teacher Conferences start tomorrow. If you haven’t yet signed up for a conference, and would like to set up a time, please email me ASAP so we can get you on the list.

Also, my preference is that your 5th grader attend the conference with us. I think it’s important, at this age, that students begin taking part in their scholastic planning. This is ultimately up to you, but will become more regular as they advance through middle school.

See you soon!

Caleb McKenzie

Hello 5th Grade Families!

Parent-Teacher Conference forms went home on Tuesday, the 14th. Many have returned filled out. Thanks! Please remember, the sooner I receive them, the better the chances are of getting a particular time slot.

Also, if students have access to a usb flash drive, please have them bring it to school for our research project. This isn’t mandatory, and students can save their work to the desktop, but the computer lab is shared by all classes and sometimes student work has disappeared…
