First, THANK YOU for making our staff appreciation week last week so amazing! The thoughtfulness of our PTO and Irving parents and families is humbling!

This is our “State Testing” week. Students are progressing through the 4 state tests in small chunks throughout the day with plenty of brain breaks, snacks and fun!

We have a field trip coming up Friday May 24th to the Old Aurora Colony in Aurora, Oregon. Thanks to our wonderful PTO the bus to the Aurora Colony is paid for! We do however, have to pay for admission. The cost for this field trip is $9.00 per student and per chaperone. We are asking for students & chaperones to turn in their money by Friday, May 17th.  Each classroom is only allowed to bring 4 parents total per room. We have all the volunteers signed up. Thanks for your understanding of Aurora’s policy and space limitations.   Students and chaperones need to be here at the school at 7:00am the day of the trip. The buses will be leaving promptly at 7:15am and arriving back at the school at around 3:15pm. We will be doing a lot of walking, so we suggest you wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Each student needs to bring a lunch and a snack. Lunches should be in a disposable bag and clearly marked with your child’s name as there will not be a place to store them after lunch. Please send only beverages that have a lid. We are also asking that students do not bring any glass containers. Please let your child’s teacher know by Monday the 20th of May if your student needs a lunch ordered from the cafeteria. Students are more than welcome to bring along books, drawing things, and electronics to entertain themselves on the bus rides. Please remember that these items are brought at your own risk. The school and teachers are not responsible for these items. However, the buses will be locked at all times while we are not on them. We will be arriving back at Irving as close to 3:15pm as possible. Please make sure that your child has a ride home if they are a bus rider. Also, please make sure you have a volunteer form on file at the office. The forms are good for 5 years, so if you previously completed one you should be covered, see Jil in the office regarding this. If you have any questions, or are available to chaperone please let your child’s teacher know.
