Server Room Cleanup
Over the past month I have been trading Monday’s for Saturdays in my work schedule. As a result, the server room is finally taking proper form. In contrast, here are some before and after photos:

While I still have plenty of cable management left to re-organize, as you can see, quite a bit of cleanup has occurred. Unfortunately, every wiring closet at every school is in very similar condition. It make take a year or more, but the end result will be a proper implementation of cable management practices-something that was lacking prior to my arrival here.
Email Tip
TIP: When emailing other staff in the district, adding a simple email signature which contains your school name and phone number will assist in more efficient communications!

WHS Wireless Status
Winter break 2011 saw the beginning buildout of the new WHS wireless system. Only two sections of the campus have the new wireless access points, making the new Bethel-Internal and Bethel-External wireless networks available. BTOP Fiber Project Status
With EWEB committing full crews to the Broadband Technology Opportunity Project (BTOP) in and around the Bethel School District, we are being told final completion will occur sometime in February. In the weeks following EWEB’s completion, Bethel Technology Services will be working to add the necessary equipment and bring each school (less Fairfield – Phase II of BTOP, last mile) onto the existing fiber network.
