My name is David Novak. This year (2014) I teach 6 sections of 10th grade Biology at Willamette High School in Eugene, Oregon, USA, from September to June, over two semesters, with about 190 students per semester. I am on various school/district committees, including Bargaining, Recycling, and Proficiency. Our 1,500-student body, 4-year, public high school, includes an extremely comprehensive curriculum (from IB and AP classes in various subjects to Culinary, Metals, and Wood Shop classes, e.g.).
For the past 29 years, I have been at WHS, teaching a variety of science courses, including IB and AP Biology, General Biology, Ecology, Marine Biology, Zoology, Natural Resources, and 9th grade integrated science. Besides teaching, I enjoy scuba diving, mountain climbing, skiing, birding, sponsoring student teachers, and watching TED videos. Sharing in these adventures are my wife, three children, three cats, and one dog.
