You will have a disease assigned to you in class and I’ll go back over the expectations of these presentations.

The Rubric and Project Description have been updated!  Be sure to submit your finished presentation (and notes) in google classroom or share it with me (deder.siedler@bethel.k12.or.us) by the END OF Thursday 10/13.

Nuclei are hard core!

First of all, we took a quiz over the history and structure of the atom.  Watch this Crash Course Chemistry to get a review.

This week we started with some practice on calculating neutrons. We did some reading from the text in class, then covered these slides:

Remember these basic rules:

  • the Protons ( = Atomic Number) are the identity of the element and also the number of electrons
  • Mass Number is for a given isotope (usually we just round the atomic mass from the table)
  • Protons + Neutrons = mass number
    • Soo  Mass# – Protons = # of Neutrons

We will end the week reading the first 3 pages of our new text. (314-316)

Unit 3 Nutrition

I’ve been slow to post our slides for this unit so lets get caught up!

First it was basic nutrition:  <—- Click here.

Then it was Nutrients and nutrient dense foods

Then we discussed the history of MyPlate and Food Groups and did a computer assignment using www.choosemyplate.gov

And later we reviewed Food Labels and how to read them

The Last set of notes in this section is Components of Health and Fitness

If these slides don’t work for you just leave a comment and I’ll fix them as soon as I can.

If any of you missed the last 2 classes, keep up with your work in the packet, we are rapidly heading towards the Unit Test,  likely only 2 weeks away.

PS.  I’ve added the SuperFood or SnakeOil infor graphic link here.  Be sure to show your moms!
