Amazon Field Trip Tomorrow 6/12

Our last field trip of the year will take place tomorrow, June 12th. We will be going to Amazon, followed by lunch at the picnic area behind the pools. We will leave Irving at 9:30am and return around 2:15 pm. The students will swim from 10:00-12:00, eat and play from 12:00-1:00 and then play at the park when they finish eating until 1:45. The cost of this fieldtrip is $4.00.  Students need to bring a sack lunch or have ordered one from the cafeteria.  Please remember to bring a towel and a change of clothes, if your child wears their swimsuit underneath. Please also bring a plastic bag for wet clothes/towels.  If you would like to use your own, please bring sunscreen. We will have sunscreen for students at Amazon.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Mrs. Moss & Ms. Holliday

6/4/2018 Parent Newsletter

Irving Elementary School

Mrs. Moss & Ms. Holliday

4th Grade – Room # 11

(688-2621) ext 2430

June 4, 2018

Dear Parents and Families,

We write this last newsletter of the year feeling excited and a little sad.  The students have grown, shared, and learned so much this year. We are excited for them to start their next chapter, 5th grade, but also sad to let them go. We have had a fantastic year together. We want to thank all parents/guardians for your support of our classroom family and your child.  We have had a remarkable year! We wish the students the best in 5th grade and we hope they come back and visit us in the years to come! We would love to hear all about their accomplishments!

Today, science experiments are due. Each student received a science experiment to practice at home two weeks ago. Your child will be receiving two grades for this assignment, one in science and another in language arts as progress toward the 4th grade speaking benchmark. We’re excited to see them present their experiment to the class this week. If you have any questions please let me know.

On Monday, June 11th, we will be tidying up the room. I am asking that each student bring in a plastic grocery bag or reusable bag (with their name on it) on Monday to school or ASAP. This bag will be used to carry all their packets and left-over school supplies. We will be cleaning out our desks and cubbies too!

Thursday June 14th is our last day of school (Half-Day). On Thursday we will have a school-wide “Field Day” where students will participate in activities around the school. We will finish the day with an assembly. The students will get out at 11:30. Report cards will be mailed home the week of June 18-22nd.

All library books will be due on June 7th.  The Awesome Prize Box will be available starting Tuesday, June 4th. If you have your library books turned in by this date you may come and choose a prize! Mrs. Ferguson has been collecting treasure all year long! You don’t want to miss out!

We will be taking our last field trip to Amazon and will be having an end of the year BBQ celebration on Tuesday June 12th. Look for a flyer and the information on the classroom blog!

The last two weeks of school the students will be reflecting upon their year and preparing for the summer months. We will write about our year and the students will write letters to the “future” student who will sit at their desk. I know each child has words of wisdom to share with future 4th graders! We hope all students and families have safe relaxing summers! We hope to see you around next fall.

As always, our website, http://blogs.bethel.k12.or.us/Irving4thTigers , is updated weekly. Please feel free to check out the pictures and movies of our students learning in action!

Amazon End of the Year Field Trip

June 1, 2018

Dear Parents and Families,

Our last field trip of the year will take place on June 12th. This is the only fieldtrip we take during the year that is strictly for fun. This includes admission and the bus ride. Due to new District regulations we are no longer allowed to barbeque. Any food provided for students needs to be prepared by our kitchen staff or a sack lunch brought from home. However, our kitchen staff has come up with a great sack lunch for students. It includes a sub sandwich, strawberries, vegs., sun chips, a rice crispy treat and a drink. It will be provided at the normal school lunch cost of $2.10 unless your family is on free/reduced lunch. So your two options for lunch will be a sack lunch from school or a sack lunch from home. Please let us know which one you will be choosing.

We really don’t need chaperones on this field trip other than a couple of dads to help supervise the boy’s locker room. However, parents are more than welcome to come. We will bring sunscreen to apply to students as needed. You may want to send sunscreen for your child if she/he has a certain kind you prefer. Please let us know if you don’t want sunscreen applied to your child.

Thank you,

Ms. Perrigo, Mrs. Moss, and Ms. Holliday
