About Mrs. DeBlois

My name is Jennifer DeBlois Grimes. I just go by Ms. DeBlois at school. This is my 15th year of teaching at Prairie Mountain. I love this school, and I love 3rd grade!

I grew up in the small town of Molalla, Oregon. I left Molalla in 2000 to attend college at the University of Oregon. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies with a minor in Special Education in 2004. I then went on to earn my Master of Education in Teaching and Learning with an emphasis on Early Intervention in 2005. I was hired at Prairie Mountain in 2005 and have been happily teaching here ever since! I also completed the Preliminary Administrative Licensure Program at the University of Oregon recently and hope to be a principal one day.

I am married to Mike Grimes. We are expecting a baby boy in November. You might see us riding our blue tandem bike around town or paddleboarding at the lake. I have a Great Dane puppy. His name is Mister Hubert Hayward Von Bailey, but we just call him Hubert. I adore him! He is sweet, playful, and cuddly but also a bit mischievous. Hubert enjoys playing with his stuffed lizard, stealing my shoes, and is quite the social butterfly.

I also like to read, hang out with friends and family, do projects around the house, organize things, decorate, cook dinner with Mike, travel to new places, sightsee, watch football (Go Ducks! Go 49ers! Go Titans!), and go to concerts. A few of my favorite things are country music, shoes, See’s milk chocolate, the Oregon Ducks, and Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes.

I decided I was going to be a teacher when I was in 2nd grade. I have been inspired and influenced by some wonderful teachers – Mrs. Diane McIntosh, my 2nd grade teacher; Ms. Jennifer Kelly, my 5th grade teacher; Mr. Ken Gex, my high school social studies teacher…
