Hey all! The new year has begun and the students and I are enjoying our beautiful new school. I wanted to give you and update about what’s happening the classroom. In the next couple weeks, I will be sending out info to you letting you know about my after school club that I’ll be beginning with my students. After school club will consist of extra homework help, typing skills, working in the school garden (learning to garden, construct raised beds, growing food, etc. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to get some extra help in the class while simultaneously connecting and making stronger friendships with their classmates. I hope to hear from you and I’ll be in touch with you via Tuesday folders and through my website. Thank you!
I wanted to give some insight to what we’re going to begin soon in classroom 6. Soon, we will begin reading about Lewis and Clark and their adventures. We will be writing in our student portfolios about their journey and the trials and tribulations along the way. Finally, we have just begun a new unit in science having to do with heat and energy. I encourage you to ask your child what they’ve learned so that they can show off some of their gusto so to speak.
Thanks, Mr. D
I wanted to give a little update to room 6. Alas, we’re already at week 4 and the time has been flying. I encourage all parents to reivew your childs work everyday so that you know what we’re learning in class and so that you can also assist your child with their work.
I wanted to give a little update about what will be expected in the next couple weeks. Now that we’re at week 4 in the classroom we will begin to much more writing (narrative /expository) and for some of the upcoming weekends students will be expected to write a narrative paper (beginning/middle/end) about one special day or circumstance that has significance to them. Please assist your child while they do this so that they know that its important to you too!
We will also be getting into some new math areas (decimals /fractions) which should be a ton of fun, but of course I encourage you to reveiw these concepts with your child for mastery. Until the next blog!
Welcome back students!! Please check out my blog and look over the expectations in my classroom. I’m very excited for the new year and getting to know you “the students.” I’ll be seeeing you in class!
We are currently working on oral speeches and presentations in the classroom. Each student will choose a Shell Silverstein, Jack Prelutzky, or any poem they prefer, and then recite it as part of the state benchmark in speaking. It should be a hoot!
