Super-Inexpensive Classes at the UO this Summer

college smallHigh school students in Lane County will have an opportunity to take two special classes at the UO from late August through late November.  The first course, Psychology and Health, will address many of the subjects In the AP Psychology curriculum.  The second course, Introduction to Empirical Economic Analysis, will explore many of the topics In the curriculum for AP Statistics.  UO professors are volunteering to teach these classes on furlough days, holidays, and other days when the local schools will not be in session.

Please contact Professor Tom Lininger at lininger@uoregon.edu to apply for the courses or to find out more information.   Note that the application deadline is Friday, June 14, at 5:00 p.m.

The cost for each class (excluding the cost of textbooks) will be $60 (usually these courses would cost between $500 and $700).  This modest registration fee will go to the UO Academic Extension, which provides administrative support for the high school courses at the UO.

If applications for a particular course exceed the number of available slots, a lottery will determine enrollment.  The lottery will give priority to seniors, then juniors, then sophomores, than freshmen.  The lottery will seek to balance enrollment among the various high schools in Lane County.
