We hope you had a great summer break and are ready to get back into learning!
We have attached a copy of the schedule to this blog post. According to your Advisory Group designation, your student will meet with their assigned teacher at 8:30-9 on Monday through Friday. Advisory periods will be a time for kids to connect with the teacher and each other.
After morning Advisory, Groups will stay in the same cohort as they move through their “real time” core classes Mon/Tues and Thurs/Fri from 9:00-11:50.
After lunch students will have an opportunity to participate in an elective class and finish up work that was assigned to them during the morning core classes or at times be in small learning groups.
On Wednesday, students will check in with their advisory teacher at 8:30 then work on independent activities or ongoing projects that will be posted in the Google Classroom. Students may also be invited to join small groups for extra practice in a subject area on Wednesdays and throughout the week.
There are some important changes to distance learning as we head into fall. The first major change will be attendance. Teachers will be taking attendance when live classes are being taught (again 9:00-11:50 Mon/Tue-Th/Fri) and also on Wednesday during advisory at 8:30. Another change will be grading. Students will earn letter grades for the work they complete while in distance learning. This will look and feel a lot different from what took place in the spring.
Other important information: chromebook pick up is Wednesday (today) from 7:30-4 and Thursday 12-7 at Willamette High School. Meadow View will be a meal site for lunch pick up on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Tuesday, September 15th. These supplies will be forthcoming for students within the next couple of weeks: three spirals, one graph paper spiral, one pack of pens and one pack of sharpened pencils.
We know that many of you have questions and concerns and we are here for you. We will be making follow up phone calls this week and next to check in. Please check out our 6th grade blog for up to date information. Once school begins the blog will be updated weekly. http://blogs.bethel.k12.or.us/mv6news/
Even though this is a strange start to a new school year, we are still very excited about meeting students and families and doing what we love…teaching.
