Water Quality Field Trip

The 6th grade science classes are currently learning about water quality and indicators of a stream’s health.  To give an opportunity to see this knowledge in its real life application, both classes will field trip to a designated place on the Amazon bike path to test the water quality in Amazon Creek.  Our data findings will be added to a district database that all district 6th grade classes contribute to.  We will test our “piece of the stream” twice this school year, once in the fall, and again in the spring.

Students will be organized into “Stream Teams” and will be charged with carrying out important data collection tasks.  We practice and review all procedures at school well in advance of our field trip day.

Our fall trip to Amazon Creek is now scheduled.

Period 2 on Monday, November 1st, 8:30am-9:45am

Period 3 on Tuesday, November 2nd, 8:30am-9:45am

Parent and adult volunteers are needed to help make this learning experience a positive and safe one.  If you are available to help us on this date, we’d love to have you.
