Willamette High School wrestling coaches in Eugene, Oregon:

 

Head High School coach, Assistant High School Club coach, and Assistant Youth Club coach:

Rick O’Shea: A Special Education teacher for Lane ESD, and a wrestling coach for Willamette High School.

Rick started wrestling in 5th grade.  While wrestling for Harrisburg High School he won a total of 7 State titles in 3 different styles, a High School National Champion in Greco, and a 2x National runner up in Freestyle.  Rick went on to compete for University of Oregon where he was a 3X National Qualifier. He won the Pac 10 wrestling conference 1x, and was a 2x runner up at the tournament.  After college he continued to train in both Freestyle and Greco wrestling as a member of the “Sunkist Kids” wrestling club.  Rick was an All-American in both styles in the Senior division making him a qualifier in the 1984 and ’88′  Olympic Trials.  Rick has been coaching wrestlers at every level since he completed his collegiate career at the U of O.

 

Head High School Club coach, Assistant High School coach, and Assistant Youth Club coach:

Steven Stockdale:
is a Special Education teacher for 4J SD, Assistant Frosh football coach, and a wrestling coach for Willamette High School.

Steven Started wrestling his freshman year in High School. While wrestling for Willamette High School he won 2 District titles, placed 4th in state his senior year in both Collegiate and Greco, and was a member of the 2002 Freestyle and Greco National team.  In his senior season Steven won the Culture Exchange tournament, making him a member of the 2002 Culture Exchange team to Belgium.  He went on to wrestle in college for Southwestern Oregon CC.  While wrestling there Steven Qualified for for the 2005 NJCAA National Tournament.  He spent most of last spring (2011) researching and studying Nutrition.  He also spent a lot of time this last summer (2011) attending wrestling camps.  While attending a few of the premier camps in the country, he had the opportunity to coach with, workout with, and learn from more than a handful of some of the top wrestling in the Nation.   Steven begins his 7th formal year as a coach at Willamette.

 

Assistant High School coach, Assistant High School Club coach, and Assistant Kids Club coach:

Michael Stockdale: Currently a student at Lane community College where he holds a 4.0 GPA, and a wrestling coach for Willamette. Michael will complete his Associates degree next year, transfer to the University of Oregon where he plans to get his Bachelors in History, and eventually get his teaching license.

Michael started wrestling his Freshmen year of high school at Willamette.  While at Willamette he qualified for state his senior year, was a 4 year letter winner, and a team captain his Junior and Senior years.  Michael begins his 4th formal year as a coach at Willamette high school.

 

Head Youth Club coach and Assistant High school coach:

Travis Indell: Working to raise his family.  He is also a wrestling coach for Willamette High School.

Travis started wrestling in the 7th grade.  While at West Albany High School Travis wrestled at Heavy Weight all 4 years, he was a 3X district placer, and a 2x State qualifier for West Albany High School.  He was a 4 time letter winner and team captain his senior year.    During the Fall Travis Coaches Youth Football for “Kids Sports”.  Travis begins his 2nd formal year as a coach at Willamette high school and their Youth Wrestling Club.

 

Assistant High School coach and Assistant Youth Club coach:

Jeff Dua: Currently working to raise his family, and is a wrestling coach for Willamette High School.

Jeff started wrestling in the 6th grade.  He was a State Champion his senior year.  Jeff went on to wrestle at Southern Oregon University where he qualified to the NAIA National Tournament 2x and was an All-American placing 7th his senior year.  Jeff is in his 4th year of coaching for Willamette.

 

Assistant High School coach and Assistant Youth Club coach:

Adam Fugitt: Currently working to pay off his truck, and he is a wrestling coach for Willamette High School.

Adam started wrestling his freshman year of high school at Willamette. While at Willamette Adam qualified for the collegiate state tournament 2x and placed 7th his senior year.  After high school Adam went on to wrestle for Southwestern Oregon Community College.  Adam Finished 3rd in his conference and qualified to the NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament.  Since college Adam has been training in MMA and continues to be a student of the sport of wrestling.  He has currently won 4 grappling tournaments, and is scheduling to fight by June.  We are excited to have Adam back for a 2nd season as a coach for Willamette wrestling.

 

Assistant High School Coach:

Ralph Hendrickson: Retired last year as an engineer for Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) he home schools his 2 sons, and coaches freshmen football and wrestling for Willamette High School.

Ralph has a history of success as a High School and College Footballer.  His freshmen year of high school he footballed in San Diego California.  His freshmen team won the city championships.  Ralph was the starting offensive guard on his championship team.  After his freshmen year he moved to Oregon.  He “enjoyed fairly successful years that ended in a State championship game”.  His Senior year he was selected as a First Team All-League O-Guard and a First Team All-league Outside linebacker.  Ralph went to Football at Mt Hood Junior College.  He started on this team as a Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, and he was 1 of only 3 freshmen to start on his team.  His team ended the season as the #1 team in the nation, and Ralph was selected as a second team all league footballer.  After his sophomore year in college Montana (a 4 year school) offered him a Scholarship and he elected to peruse his career as an engineer for EWEB.  Ralph will begin his 1st year of coaching wrestling at Willamette High School.

 

Assistant High School coach

Kyle Rogers: Kyle is currently working to raise his family.  Although Kyle comes to us from a mostly Football background, Kyle did wrestle as a freshman at Willamette High School.

Kyle has been working behind the scenes for years helping Willamette wrestling.  Year round, Kyle spends his mornings from 6am-7:30am coaching our wrestlers and other athletes with strength training.  Kyle assists every year with our High School wrestling tournament (The Ultimate Wrestling Challenge), and he is constantly encouraging all students at Willamette to wrestle.  We enjoy having Kyle as part of the team.

 

Assistant High School coach:

Russel Pascual: A Mechanical Engineering major at Lane Community College, and a Wrestling coach at Willamette High School.

Russel started wrestling in the 6th grade for Kennedy.  Russel began his High School career at Churchill in Eugene Oregon, where he was a 2x state qualifier and Greco regional placer.  Russel decided to transfer to  Willamette after his Sophomore year.  While wrestling at Willamette, Russel became a 4x state qualifier 2x district finalist, a 2x Freestyle and Greco Junior state placer, Freestyle and Greco National qualifier, and a 2011 Culture Exchange Trials Tournament champion in freestyle.  By winning the Culture exchange tournament, Russel was a first pick to be a member of the 2011 culture exchange team to Russia.  Russel brings a love for wrestling and over 7 years of wrestling expierence.

 

Assistant High School coach:

Noah Smith: Noah is studying Pre-Med at Lane Community College and working part time.
Noah began wrestling his freshman year at Willamette High School.  While wrestling at Willamette, Noah was a 4x district placer, a district finalist, and a 2x state qualifier.  Noah Graduated from Willamette High School with a 3.86 GPA, and was a 4 time Oregon scholar athlete while competing in wrestling at Willamette High School.  We are excited to have Noah join our coaching staff this season.

 

Assistant High School Coach:

Dylan: A current University of Oregon undergraduate general studies major, and a wrestling coach at Willamette High School.

Dyalan began wrestling in the 4th grade.  Dylan finished 3rd at the 2010 High School state wrestling tournament for North Douglas High School.

Athletic High School Trainer:

Tim Schleyresides originally form Buffalo NY.

As an Athletic Trainer, Tim has assisted with the medical coverage of wrestlers at every level of wrestling this country has to offer, aside from the World/Olympic Championships.  He has assisted with medical coverage at the Oklahoma Gold wrestling tournament, the USA Wrestling “Northeast Senior Regional Championship Tournament” (“US Open” Qualifying tournament).

SUNY Brockport is the place Tim chose to peruse his bachelor’s degree and ultimately, his career as an Athletic Trainer.  While attending SUNY Buffalo, Tim had the opportunity to work with 26 sports teams and specifically, one of the top Division III wrestling programs in the country.  After completing his bachelor’s degree, Tim decided he would attend graduate school at the University of Oregon.  In graduate school he spent his first year working as the Athletic Trainer for Springfield HS, and his second year working as the Athletic Trainer with the Oregon Ducks football team.  Tim is in his third year as the Athletic Trainer for Willamette High School.
