Dear Science Fair Families!
We are kicking off our first Annual (hopefully) Meadow View Science Fair! The Fair will take place on March 9, 2011 from 9-11am. K-5 students will be touring the exhibits and learning about science during their PE time.
Please collaborate with your 6th grader about their project. They will need to bring certain materials to class next week (Monday) to begin performing their experiments. I have asked students to split the materials list so as not to burden one student with assembling the project.
Students will also need a cardboard presentation board or a large piece of cardboard from a box to create one with. Please keep your eye out for something like this. We need only one presentation board per presentation/group of presenters.
Students may practice elements of their experiments at home with their partners. However, I would like to do most of this during class time so that they follow the Scientific Method (collecting data, etc.) with care.
Thank you for your scientific support!
We will be starting our Science Fair projects this Monday. We will be working with partners to plan and perform a Science Inquiry project, due by the beginning of March. Students need to be thinking about an experiment they would like to try. More info to come in Tuesday folders of this week.
We will be doing Science Try Its next week. Please make sure you bring the materials you need to perform your experiments! More information about the Science Fair in March will be coming soon!
Well done everyone! The 6th graders worked really hard this term and learned a lot. Students are beginning their Science Inquiry work samples and we are gearing up for the Science Fair in March. Other highlights for 3rd Quarter will be the OBOB competition in February.
Make sure you check out our latest articles on favorite teachers at Meadow View School. Our 6th graders are putting the finishing touches on our 6th Grade News Blog that will focus on Feature Teachers, due out this Friday. Take a look!
That’s right! I have postponed the due date until after MLK Day. Please make sure you hand write or type your final drafts over the weekend to be turned in on Tuesday. Thanks!
