Whiteaker Thanksgiving Dinner

WHEN:  Thursday, November 28th,  2013

WHERE:  Whiteaker Community Head Start Center, 21 North Grand Avenue, Eugene

TIME:  Dinner 11 to 3pm       Give-Away takes place between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm

This is much more than a free dinner. It is a day of community warmth and sharing. It is a day our community comes together to share respect and support for each other. It is pleasing to see the smiles of the many grateful people as they receive a delicious dinner and free, much needed, sleeping bags, blankets, shelter materials, toiletries, and clothes.


Christmas Coffee  

On Christmas Day, homeless persons and volunteers will gather together from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Catholic Community Services (CCS) Eugene community service center for simple food, practical gifts, Christmas carols, and a warm and welcoming place to be on Christmas Day.  All are welcome. Toys for Tots — Eugene-Springfield

This year’s distribution dates are December 14th and 15th, 2013.

Tickets will be issued out December 13th, 2013 at 3106 Pierce Parkway for the Eugene/Springfield distribution.  This year’s distribution for tickets and gifts will be held at 3106 Pierce Parkway in Springfield.  You can get in line and receive a ticket on December 13 after 3:00 PM (outside the Reserve Centers’ gate) and come back as per the number you received on the 14th or 15th.  Expect to wait in line 2-4 hours or longer the day of distribution.


Gift distribution will be from 8:00am – 8:00pm Saturday , December 14th and 8:00am – 6:00pm on Sunday, December 15th.


Documentation needed for Adults:

Picture ID (examples include: Driver license, ID card, Passport etc.) In lieu of photo ID, 2 pieces of documentation showing residency in Lane County (examples include utility bills, Oregon Medical Plan docs, etc.) Information needed: SSN and date of birth


Documentation for children (examples include: SSN card, Oregon Medical Plan, Birth Certificate, custody papers, etc.) Information needed: child’s age and date of birth


The cut off age for children receiving toys is age 13. If the child is older than 13, they are not allowed to receive toys through this distribution. Exceptions will be made in the case of developmental disabilities, in which case documentation is needed to show the developmental age accordingly.


Salvation Army in Eugene and Springfield “Tree of Joy” program

You can only access this program OR Toys for Tots, not both. You need to bring ID for all family members.  Children need documentation of their birthdate. Bring proof of income. Income limits are generous; no one has been turned away yet to date. Bring a recent piece of document mail. Program is for kids ages 15 and younger.  Gifts are chosen from a list. Food boxes also provided.  Applications accepted from November 1st– 29th.
