Empathy Campaign

Here are some photos of our school-wide empathy campaign. We’ve made made a difference and have made deepened connections with many students along the way. A huge thank you to Becky and Charlotte for the Buddy bench they made in honor of our campaign which will be installed on our playground this spring. We have an amazing class who is doing tremendous things! Stay tuned for our next project…the garden! The two projects have so many things in common including building community, empowering students and creating beauty in our school. We are such proud members of the Malabon Community!

September 2016: Welcome!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students and families of room 108, where the people are caring and the learning is GREAT! I met with most families over the past 2 days, which has been wonderful. With two children of my own, I know how difficult it is to fit everything into a busy schedule, however the connection between school and home is one of the most important factors of ensuring success in school. Throughout the year I will make every attempt to be brief in my communications, but please take the time to read things carefully.

We have a goal to learn all 26 letters and sounds in 20 days and with your support all students will be able to accomplish this! If you visit the following site you’ll be able to view a video of the ABC sing sign and read that we’re learning in class. I encourage you to sing and practice it at home with your child.

Thank you to those of you who have already signed up to volunteer! Volunteers play an important role in the school setting and their are a variety of opportunities for you to get involved. There are a variety of ways you can volunteer depending on your schedule and interests including working in the classroom, preparing materials at home, planning class parties, and assisting on field trips. Another great way to get involved is by participating in our PTO (parent-teacher organization). It is a wonderful group that does amazing things for our school. If you are interested in volunteering and have not already signed up, please contact me.
